About Us
"We walk along side rangatahi and whānau to transform lives and strengthen communities"
Te Ora Hou Northland
Began in 1981 and is affiliated to Te Ora Hou Aotearoa, a national network of faith-based Maori youth and community led Centres.
We walk alongside rangatahi and whānau to transform lives and strengthen communities. Through kaupapa Māori and faith-informed practice, we help young people build confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose.
Our creative, relationship-based programmes reconnect rangatahi with whānau, education, and community, breaking negative cycles and growing the next generation of confident, connected contributors to a thriving Northland.

Our Vision
"Rangatahi and whānau living life in all its fullness."

Our Mission
Through youth and community development, we reconnect rangatahi and whānau with villages of support to encourage connection, growth and purpose"

MAURI
"Encouraging young people to create a positive impact in society"

MAURI
Ko wai mātou?
Te Ora Hou Aotearoa is a faith-based youth and community development organisation that has been working with young people, their whānau, and communities in many places across Aotearoa for many years. Our mission is to empower young people to reach their full potential and become positive contributors to society. Through our programmes and services, we aim to build strong relationships with young people and provide them with the support they need to succeed in life.

Manaaki
Manaaki is at the heart of who we are. It defines our approach to engaging with people in a holistic way practically, spiritually, emotionally, and culturally.

Akoako
We cherish both organic and structured learning, in everyday experiences as well as formal settings.

Uruhau
We actively seek and engage in positive experiences that promote fun - aungatanga and bring joy, recognising joy as a source of resilience even in adversity.

Rangatahi
We see rangatahi as a vital part of our community with all their energy, haututūtanga, learning and developing.

Ihu Karaiti
Our kaupapa is centred on the teachings of Jesus Christ, deeply intertwined with our indigenous Māori identity and spiritual expression.
